Discovering Copic Markers

February 19, 2012

Lately I got myself couple of treats of different kind. Made myself very selfishly happy, and you know what?... Im thinking...why not?!... If nobody else is doing it;) /kidiiiiing/
So first of all got myself back into drawing/painting/illustrating schedule.
As I already mnetioned earlier (about 2 years ago;)) I am a great fan of Audrey Kawasaki. Her art is a mix of pure provocative innocence with tender touch of manga and art nouveau. I adore every piece she made but of course I am not kidding myself that I could be as good as she is. What concernes illustrations I just discovered COPIC MARKERS.

You can illustrated just about anything with these magic markers...from comics to fashion. Neccesary tool to every illustratior/animater...also quite expensive hobby I can tell.
But because I am begginer and don´t know yet how to work with markers to get the effects I would like, first of all I need a practice. And for that I borrowed as a template a few sketches from Audrey. Cause her work is simply amazing and I might mention this a lot till the end of this post.
So I drew the outlines of the teplates and then started to experiment with color markers. And it WAS fun!
You can see below yourself how did it turned out...

So after my first try of course I realize it looks pretty much as a colour book but I am sure once I get the grif to work with Copic markers it will be quite piece of "something"!...decided I uncover the beauty of MANGA;-))
